The typical structure of IELTS test is :-
- Listening (30 min + 10 min transfer time)
- Reading (60 minutes)
- Writing (60 minutes)
- Speaking (11 – 14 minutes)
IELTS is an English language test primarily used for Study Abroad Applications.
IELTS is a predominantly an OFFLINE test, where the 3 sections - Reading, Writing & Listening, needs to be completed as a pen paper test. The Speaking is a face-to-face oral interview with an examiner and is usually completed few days prior to the exam.
IELTS has two versions of tests -
Academic test is required for those who want to use IELTS for Studying, while General test is required for those who want to apply for Jobs or Permanent residency.
Both the versions of IELTS have 4 sections: Reading, Writing, Speaking & Listening. The Speaking & Listening sections remains the same in both the versions, but the Reading & Writings sections of the Academic version are slightly tougher than the similar sections in General version of the test.
All candidates must complete all the four Modules to complete the test & obtain results. The Listening, Reading and Writing modules must be completed in one day. The Speaking module may be taken, at the discretion of the test centre, in the period seven days before or after the other modules.
